Learn to Love Yourself
I think I spent half of my life looking for a man to make me complete. I
would put on extra makeup, buy clothes that would hide my imperfections and put
on my game face as I entered the bar. And here I am, 40 years old and
three children later. Older, yes. But wiser too. If I could
transport myself back in time - back to my college days, I would sit myself down
for a very serious talk. A talk about loving myself for who I am.
The point of life is not to find a partner. No one but you can make yourself complete. The first order of business is to go look in the mirror.
Look at yourself. And I mean really look.
Do you see the cellulite on your legs? That is just you, and you are
beautiful. Do you see how your nose is just a bit crooked on one side?
That is you, and you are beautiful. You do not need to hide anything about
yourself. You are you and that cannot be changed. Be proud of who
you are and hold your head up high.
Your next job is to really think about what you enjoy doing - then go out and do it. Instead of heading out to a bar Friday night to "meet a man" go to the fishing pier with a rod and reel! Or take a pottery, painting or computer class. Join the volunteer group at the zoo, volunteer at your local community theater or go to the closest high school football game. You will find that your life will magically seem full and you will become more confident in who you are.
And you know what? While you are out there enjoying your life and yourself, you will probably meet a man who is doing exactly that for himself. You already know he shares your interests because he's not at a bar - and he is doing
exactly what you are doing. And chances are, if he isn't out there
actively looking, he is probably just as comfortable with himself and will
probably be a good match.
So ladies, after you read this article, go to the mirror. Look at your
beautiful self and remember, there is nothing wrong with you. You are
perfect in every way! It is time to be alive!
